Slatters Cottage Bourton on the Hill, Gloucestershire
A luxury, Grade II listed, 17thC cottage, sleeping up to 3 plus plus a baby, featuring an inglenook fireplace with log stove, the cottage is in a quiet rural lane with views of Bourton-on-the-Hill - less than two miles from the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh (and only 5 miles from Chipping Campden, 19 miles from Stratford). The village has a wonderful 12thC church
it provides a central base for visiting Warwick, Stratford-on-Avon, Cheltenham & Bath, Broadway, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and "The Slaughters".
There is a very popular gastropub, the Horse & Groom (you need to book) plus Bourton House & Gardens. The village is surrounded by farmland, and is close to Batsford Arboretum and the Cotswold Falconry Centre. For the more adventurous there is a paintballing centre close by too. The village has a bus service most days to surrounding places, the nearest mainline station is in Moreton-in-Marsh where there are also antique shops, gift shops, pubs, restaurants (inc’ take-away), tea rooms and supermarkets (some will make deliveries). One small well-behaved dog permitted downstairs only at £20 per week, please mention when booking. No smoking in the cottage. Prices start from £350 per week (short breaks also available)
The lounge is stone walled with a beamed ceiling, large inglenook fireplace with log burning stove. It also has a window seat.
The ground floor houses the kitchen (gas cooker, fridge with freezer section, separate freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and gas central heating), lounge/dining area with dining table & chairs, leather seating, colour television, Freeview box with digital radio, DVD player, CD/MP3 player/radio. Wide range of books, DVD's & CDs and many games provided.
There is a downstairs cloakroom (toilet) and utility room.
The stairs to the first floor are a little steep and thus the cottage may not be suitable for the infirm or toddlers.
Upstairs is a double bedroom (5' pocket sprung mattress) with a TV , plus one single bedroom, (plus you can add a baby in a travel cot), with village and landscape views . Also on this floor is a toilet/bathroom including a bath with shower-over.
There is a payphone for your use, and there is mobile reception (but this can be dependent on your network). Off-road parking directly outside for one car, further parking available on the road opposite the cottage.
Travel cot/ high chair can be provided at no cost. All bedding & linen (but not for the travel cot) and towels are provided free of charge.
